Pink Himalayan fine salt
Pink salt from the Himalayas is a fossil sea salt formed in the secondary era, more than 200 million years ago. Huge quantities of salt were gradually deposited in successive layers. Salt was present in the Himalayan regions even before the formation of the mountain range. In the secondary era, deep fractures broke up the earth's crust and several continents separated. Slowly, the Indian continent moved north-eastwards until it collided with Eurasia to form the Himalayas, over 2500 kilometres long and with peaks over 8000 metres high. The salt from the ancient ocean was then pushed back onto the high plateaus at an altitude of over 3,000 metres. It was nourished by mineral infiltrations which give it the identifying characteristics of this Himalayan origin, in particular this extraordinary pink colour.
Today, the deposits have remained deep in the ground, protected from the outside world. This preserved location gives it an exceptional quality. Pink Himalayan salt is unrefined, which means that it comes to us in its original purity, is not processed and contains no additives.
Its natural crunchiness and delicate flavour will delight your meat, fish, vegetables or other raw or cooked foods.
As a precursor in the import of Pink salt from the Himalayas in Europe, C&C has established since 2004 a direct supply chain with the producers of the Punjab valley, in Pakistan. This approach allows us to guarantee the quality of the salt, which is extracted, washed, selected and prepared with care for our customers.
As we select quality ingredients from distant origins, we have decided to implement a carbon contribution process where the purchase of credits allows us to fund projects that limit or avoid a similar amount of CO2 emissions. The final packaging of the products is carried out in France.
