Manuka honey IAA18+
Manuka (Leptospermum Scoparium) is a shrub, a cousin of the tea tree that grows wild in the remote virgin lands of New Zealand. Used for centuries by the Tohunga, the Maori healer, it is one of the most effective plants in the traditional pharmacopoeia.
Manuka only flowers for 4-6 weeks a year between November and January. The bees have a very limited time to extract the precious nectar from its pretty white flowers and turn it into a honey with exceptional properties and a creamy texture.
These properties have been scientifically proven by hundreds of studies. Manuka honey has a unique activity that sets it apart from others. This non-peroxide function is measured by the IAA® “Activity and Authenticity Index”. The index guarantees authentic, pure and active New Zealand honey. The level of methylglyoxal (MGO) present in honey is partly responsible for these unique properties. The higher these indices are, the more active your honey will be.
