The IAA® Charter
Manuka honey, unlike other honeys, has an additional and unique activity called « Non-Peroxide Activity » (NPA), which is active and effective on humans, scientifically guaranteed by the IAA® Index. In 2008, Professor Henle discovered that one of the molecules responsible for this activity is methylglyoxal (MGO).
The level of activity is measured by the IAA® index ranging from 2+ to 23+. The higher the index, the greater the activity of the honey. The activity level of honey depends on its territory of origin. New Zealand is made up of two islands, the North Island and the South Island. The most active honeys are found in the North Island of New Zealand.
The IAA® Index is a mark that guarantees the non-peroxide activity of certain Manuka honeys. The IAA® is a guarantee that the honey has been tested in an accredited, independent laboratory and has the unique characteristics of active Manuka honey.
The use of this index is based on the respect of 4 fundamental points:
• Systematic testing of the non-peroxide activity of Manuka Honey by independent laboratories to ensure the unique activity of each of our jars.
• Scientific analysis guaranteeing the authenticity and botanical origin of wild Manuka honey from New Zealand, its original land.
• Direct sourcing from New Zealand beekeepers rigorously selected for the excellence of their work.
• Flawless product traceability, from hive to jar*.
*In accordance with current regulations.
In order to help you choose the products you buy, we make available the non-peroxide activity test reports that we carry out on 100% of our batches of honey.
